Narrative Science
The body of knowledge behind every film we make. Social science and twenty years of filmmaking craft, distilled into proven principles for how attention, memory and emotion actually work.
You don’t buy it. You get it, in every shot, line and cut. It’s the reason a Casual video works harder than a standard one.
Most video is made on instinct. Ours is made on evidence.
Every brief comes down to three questions. Will people watch? Will they remember? Will they feel enough to act? Those aren’t taste questions, they’re questions about how the human brain processes attention, memory and emotion. And there’s real research on all three.
Narrative Science is that research, distilled into principles we apply to every frame; how we write creative, how we shoot, how we edit.
Twenty years of craft on one side, decades of cognitive and behavioural science on the other. Where they meet is where a video stops being decoration and starts doing a job.
You can’t influence someone who’s already scrolled past.
The first job is survival in the feed, and in the first few seconds.
A message that isn’t encoded may as well not have been sent.
The brain keeps almost nothing. We engineer the moments it does keep.
People act on how a film made them feel, not what it told them.
Emotion is what converts a view into a decision.
Genuine science, applied to film.
Hundreds of peer-reviewed findings on how people watch, remember and feel sit behind our work.
A glimpse of the shelf:
…and that’s a fraction of it. The full body of knowledge runs deeper, and it keeps growing, every project adds to it.
The difference is in what the video does after it’s made.
A standard video gets made, gets posted, gets a number. A Casual video is built so that number means something, more of the audience reached, more of the message retained, more of them moved to act. Same runtime, same budget bracket. More work done per second.
Attention held
Message recall
Moved to act
It’s not a service line.
It’s our DNA.
You won’t find Narrative Science as a line item on a quote. It’s not an add-on or a premium tier, it’s simply how we think. Present in the first conversation, the treatment, the shoot and the final cut. Every Casual film has it baked in, because we don’t know how to make one without it.
