Podcast recording

The key to creating a polished, professional sounding podcast is to start with a great sounding recording. At Casual Films we use broadcast industry standard microphones to capture all the nuance, detail and clarity of your speakers, so your message will be heard loud and clear. We can also direct you on best practices such as microphone positioning and technique to keep the recording quality consistent.

It’s normally best to record your podcast in a fully equipped recording studio. However, this isn’t always possible and you may want to record in your own office. If this is the case we can advise on the best locations in your office to record and what equipment we would recommend.

Podcast editing

Editing is an essential stage in creating any podcast, if done well it can breathe life into your podcast and ensure you really hold the listeners attention. Editing a podcast will typically involve seamlessly removing any mistakes or moments where the hosts have paused for thought (even professionals can struggle to think fast on the spot!) as well as adding in appropriate intro and outro music, sound beds to set the mood and sfx and atmospheres to illustrate the current topic of conversation.

It’s also advisable to edit a podcast down from a longer recording in order to keep the conversation moving at a comfortable pace. To get a good idea of how long your podcast should be, consider who your audience is and how you’d like them to listen to it. Is it something people might listen to on their commute? If so you could go into more detail on your subjects and aim for a longer duration.
